Gilberto Silva has taken to Twitter to suggest Kieran Tierney is definitely a contender to become the new permanent Arsenal captain.
The Gunners are continuing to weigh up who will permanently succeed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Alexandre Lacazette has done the role since the striker was removed from Mikel Arteta’s plans.

Of course, Lacazette’s own future with the club is uncertain. He is out of contract in the summer.
Reports claimed that Martin Odegaard is impressing behind the scenes. And obviously, he has performed the role for his national side.
Another name that must certainly be a contender is Tierney. He is a player who has set the standard throughout his time at the Emirates.

When other Arsenal players have struggled to win the fans over, he is the one who has often stepped up. Undoubtedly, his work-rate and passion for the team can never be questioned.
Interestingly, Gilberto responded to an Arsenal fan’s tweet asking for opinions on the next captain, and he suggested that Tierney is most definitely in the equation for him.
Tierney undoubtedly a solid choice for next Arsenal captain
Tierney is perhaps not a superstar within the current Arsenal squad. And there may be more exciting names to take the armband.
Odegaard is definitely that exciting choice. He is playing some of the best football of his Arsenal spell right now. He is clearly stepping up.
What Tierney offers is consistency. He rarely produces a performance worse than a six out of 10. And, partially because of the lack of competition, he is one of the first names on the team sheet.
The Scotland international was labelled ‘special‘ by Mikel Arteta previously. And he was one of the players who dragged Arsenal through when they were struggling last season.
It would certainly make a lot of sense if Arsenal handed Tierney the armband.
