Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard is among the names being tipped to become the new Gunners captain in the future, with another fine display against Brentford this weekend showing his class.

Odegaard has captained Norway and has impressed Mikel Arteta with a series of fine performances since signing for £30m in the summer. Despite not getting on the scoresheet at the weekend, Odegaard was at the heart of a lot Arsenal’s good attacking play.

With current captain Alexandre Lacazette still yet to sign fresh terms, there has been talk of Odegaard taking over as captain.

And according to a report from The Telegraph, it is Odegaard’s personality away from the field that is endearing him to the club in general. The report claims that Odegaard is a ‘popular figure’ at Arsenal and he has made friends in all departments at the club by being so willing to help out with off-field activities.

“He walks through the corridor and everybody loves him,” Arteta comments on Odegaard in the report.

The Norwegian is certainly up there though. His performances on the pitch are excellent in the main and it’s clear that he is making an impression off the field as well.

Odegaard’s signing has, so far, been a roaring success. And if he is made captain, then there won’t be too many Arsenal fans complaining.
