Gary Neville has told Monday Night Football on Sky Sports (broadcast on 14/3; 19:04) that Luis Diaz has been absolutely sensational, and he could not believe how well he has adapted to life at Liverpool.

Diaz arrived in the Premier League during the January transfer window. At the time, it appeared that he may be on his way to Tottenham as Spurs made a bid.

However, that offer seemed to prompt Jurgen Klopp’s men into the race. And ultimately, Liverpool were able to win the battle for Diaz.

Some may have anticipated that he would take a little while to find his feet on Merseyside. Of course, he joined a club who already boast at least four world-class forwards in their ranks.

However, Diaz currently appears to have made himself a first-choice already. He already has two goals in the Premier League, with the latest coming on Saturday in the win over Brighton.

It was a brave finish from the Colombian, as he was clattered by Robert Sanchez.

His overall display was lauded by Glenn Hoddle, who named him the man of the match. And Neville has suggested that he has been left in disbelief by how well Diaz has done since arriving at Liverpool.

“This lad Diaz, honestly, saw him first time at the Carabao Cup final,” he told Monday Night Football. “I couldn’t believe what I was watching for a player who’s just entered into English football. He’s absolutely sensational.”

Diaz could be absolutely devastating once he’s completely settled at Liverpool

Diaz may have been a signing that some supporters had reservations about. The Portuguese league is not considered one of the very best in Europe. And thus, some may have downplayed how impressive his 14 goals were.

However, he has proved that he is more than good enough for the very best clubs in the world. As Neville suggests, it is almost frightening to think about how quickly he has got up to speed.

With a full pre-season under his belt, you have to think that Diaz could be absolutely devastating for Liverpool next year.
