Tottenham’s new signing Dominic Solanke has been one of the big talking points of the summer and he’s got Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher arguing already.
The popular Sky Sports duo have been discussing Solanke – among others – as he looks to spearhead Spurs to success this season.
Tottenham paid around £65m for Solanke and Ange Postecoglou was happy with how Solanke adapted on his debut last weekend.
However, not everyone is completely sold on Solanke.
Jamie Carragher and Paul Scholes suggested this week that Solanke’s finishing needs to improve if he is to be the main man at Spurs.
But according to Gary Neville, scoring goals will not be the be-all and end-all for Solanke.

Gary Neville shares how many goals Dominic Solanke needs to score for Tottenham
Speaking on Sky Sports about Solanke alongside Jamie Carragher, Neville suggested the striker could be huge for Spurs, even if he does only manage 13-14 goals.
“But in terms of just relativity of other players, he scored 19 last season in 30-odd games.
“Some English players, it happens quite a bit with strikers where somehow, they almost need that first wind, then second wind, then suddenly they get to another level.
“I think Watkins is getting to being a player who is far better than I ever thought he’d be. Toney has obviously grown. Solanke has that similar journey with him. He’s getting more mature.”
“I think he’ll have a big impact on them. If he can get 13-14 goals, then I think he’ll have had a good season.”
Coincidentally, Carragher disagreed with Neville and said that for £65m, Tottenham fans and Ange Postecoglou are right to expect more of a return.
Solanke is set to miss this weekend’s clash with Everton due to injury.
The 26-year-old picked up an ankle injury last weekend and has been unable to get himself fully fit for this weekend’s game.
Solanke, then, is already up against it in terms of getting goals quickly.
