Gary Neville spoke on Sky Sports yesterday and compared Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane to Premier League legend Alan Shearer.
Kane is definitely the best English striker out there at the moment. He’s up there with the very best in the world, and the way he helped Spurs secure a point in the dying moments of the game against Chelsea at the weekend really impressed Neville.

Before Kane scored the equaliser in the 96th minute, the Englishman had a golden opportunity to get on the score sheet. He was one-on-one with Edouard Mendy and knowing his quality in front of goal, almost everybody expected him to bury the ball in the back of the net.
To everyone’s surprise, Kane dragged his shot wide, but instead of sulking after the missed opportunity, he stayed in the game and helped his side avoid defeat in the end.
Neville was seriously impressed by that and claimed there was only one other player who had this trait – the great Shearer.
Right after Jamie Carragher raved about Kane’s mentality, Neville added on Monday Night Football: “Harry Kane, there was a big moment in that game, I was watching, where he misses that chance, but he still has that ability to come back and score the equaliser.
“He’s still there, he still believes in himself – Alan Shearer was like that, the only player I really ever played with who could do it over a long period of time, as an English centre-forward, who had that stone cold ice mentality was Shearer.
“Kane is the only thing I’ve seen that’s anything like that.”

Kane could break Shearer’s record
Kane took his tally to 184 Premier League goals following his late header against Chelsea on Sunday.
The Tottenham star is now level with Sergio Aguero in the all time top scorers list, and he’s now three goals away from Andrew Cole’s 187.
If Kane manages to finish this season with 25 goals in the Premier League, he will become the seond-highest goalscorer in the history of the competition alongside Wayne Rooney.
Shearer, the man Kane has just been compared to, leads the way with 260 goals. The England skipper will definitely not get there this season or the next, but there’s every chance he’ll end his career as the Premier League’s all-time top scorer.
