Jamie Carragher claimed on Sky Sports last night that Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane never gets the credit he deserves for what he has done over the years.

The Englishman has arguably been the best striker in the Premier League since his first full season at Spurs. He has scored almost 300 goals for club and country so far, and Carragher has heaped praise on his mentality.

Carragher is adamant that Kane’s mentality is ‘top,’ but still believes many in England just don’t give him enough credit for one reason or another.

The Liverpool legend said about Kane on Monday Night Football: “The mentality of Harry Kane is top.

“That’s what makes him where he is. There’s something about Harry Kane that a lot of people in this country still don’t give him enough credit – whether it’s because he went on loan (or) he wasn’t that good, is it? What is it now?

“He’s been the top goalscorer in a World Cup. He’s going to be the top goalscorer for England, he’s going to be the top goalscorer ever for Tottenham and he’s probably going to be the Premier League’s (top scorer of all time).

“I think he gets a lot thrown at him considering what he’s done in his career and he just never gets involved, never bites back, does his job.

“His mentality is absolutely fantastic.”

As good as Kane is and even though everyone in the country knows he’s a top-quality player, Carragher really does have a point.

The 29-year-old is absolutely adored by Tottenham fans for everything he has done for them over the years. However, fans of other clubs don’t quite rate him on the same level, which is just absurd.

The only reason we can think of is the lack of silverware in Kane’s career. If he had a couple of Premier League winners medals in his pocket, it’s very possible that people would’ve looked at him differently.

That really is a shame as Kane really deserves more credit for the phenomenal number nine he is.
