Arsenal slipped 11 points behind Liverpool on Sunday.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai secured a 2-0 win for the Reds over Manchester City, moving Liverpool even further ahead in the Premier League title race.
If that was not enough for Arsenal fans to endure on Sunday evening, a dig was then aimed at them by Gary Neville – who was commentating for Sky Sports inside the Etihad Stadium.
Gary Neville says Arsenal have been “fumbling about” this season
Speaking alongside Peter Drury, the 50-year-old said: “Liverpool have dropped points in recent weeks, they have given Arsenal a chance, but there is one game that comes in those periods where you have to show up and get it done, and they have.
“Normally in title races when you slip up there is a side behind you waiting, but instead that side (Arsenal) have been fumbling about.”

It is a dig from Neville – but a fair one.
The title race should be a lot closer at this moment in time, after Liverpool recorded consecutive 2-2 draws away at Everton and Aston Villa, but Arsenal have failed to capitalise.
Mikel Arteta also drew 2-2 against Aston Villa, and was held to a 1-1 draw at Brighton, before West Ham recorded a 1-0 win at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Mikel Arteta and Edu did not prepare for this season
Manchester City have fallen off a cliff this season, which means it should have been the year for Arsenal to make a real push for the title.
However, Arsenal – who have only signed six forwards under Arteta – did not bolster the attacking department enough, with at least one standout player needed who can make a difference.
Of course, nobody expected Bukayo Saka, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus to all suffer serious injuries, but the level of backup – namely Raheem Sterling, who some think has got slower – is not good enough.
In truth, had Arsenal not signed the England international on loan from Chelsea in a late panic move, Arteta would have even fewer attacking options to compete against Liverpool.
Make no mistake about it – Arsenal’s frontline needs serious investment this summer.
