Gary McAllister has shared where he believes Mohamed Salah will be playing next season amid speculation that the Liverpool star could attract interest from Saudi Arabia in the summer.

Of course, there is a huge question mark over the Reds heading into next season. Jurgen Klopp shocked the football world last week by announcing that he will leave the club at the end of the current campaign.

The likes of Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mohamed Salah are out of contract in the next 18 months. Based on their performances this season, Liverpool will surely want to tie the trio down to new deals.

However, the Saudi Pro League may try to put an offer for Salah on the table. Liverpool saw off interest from the Kingdom last summer. But with the Egyptian heading towards the final year of his deal, the Reds are not necessarily in the strongest position.

But speaking on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast, Gary McAllister is fairly confident that the 31-year-old will still be on Merseyside next season.

“I think he’ll definitely stay, I’ve got to say. I just think he’ll stay, I just think he’s got far too much in his locker to be thinking about going and playing in the league which is obviously not at the level the Saudis want it to be,” he said.

“But Liverpool, as we speak right now, we don’t know what they’re going to end up with at the end of the season. Why would you want to leave if you actually win a double, or even if you win one trophy. Winning trophies is hard. The other thing is his levels. He still wants to be playing at elite level. He can go there in two or three years time.”

Liverpool will hope Egyptian has more to do on Merseyside

It would be a huge boost for Liverpool to keep Salah. He is on course to have one of his best seasons for the Reds. His first year in the Premier League was a freak, as he scored 32 times. But this could easily be his second most prolific – and that is after spending time on international duty.

But it is hard to make any confident predictions about Liverpool next year. Once their next manager is named, perhaps their future will become a lot clearer.
