'Wonderfully gifted': Gary Lineker blown away by Arsenal player today
Bukayo Saka was the star of the show as England hammered Iran in their World Cup opener in Qatar.
The Arsenal winger helped himself to two goals as the Three Lions ran riot. England were 3-0 up at half-time and then added another triple in the second 45.
Saka was among a number of fine players on display for England. Jude Bellingham was also in excellent nick as he showed just why he’s a man in demand going into the next few windows.
And speaking on the BBC after the full-time whistle, former England striker Gary Lineker was clearly impressed with the winger.
“Bukayo Saka. What a wonderfully gifted young footballer. And what a way to bounce back as well,” Lineker said on the BBC after the game.
Saka will now surely start the next game against the USA. The Arsenal man was selected in front of Phil Foden and answered any questions over that emphatically.
For Arsenal and Mikel Arteta, there’ll have been a huge sense of pride watching Saka perform. His last big moment in and England shirt ended up in devastation. This, though, showed how good Saka can be and he is line to be a star for England this tournament.
