Emile Smith Rowe reacts on Twitter to Bukayo Saka's brilliant performance for England today
Bukayo Saka put in fine first-half performance for England today as the Arsenal man helped the Three Lions run riot.
Iran tried their best to contain England early on but Saka, Mount, Bellingham, Kane and Sterling all turned on the style to ensure England led 3-0 at the break.
For Saka, who scored the second goal of the game, it was the perfect way to announce himself back on the major tournament stage following his heartbreak in the Euros.
And over on Twitter, his Arsenal teammate Emile Smith Rowe was quick to take to the social media platform as he tweeted a short message in delight for his club teammate.
Of course, Smith Rowe might have found himself in this England squad had it not been for injury. However, he is still delighted to see his Arsenal teammate Saka doing so well.
Saka had been a surprise selection in the starting XI by Gareth Southgate ahead of Man City’s Phil Foden. And in the opening 45 minutes, Saka showed just why he got that nod from Southgate.
TBR’s View: Saka can lead England to glory if he carries on like this
What a way to announce yourself to the world stage. Bukayo Saka was a nightmare for Iran, and he showed just why he’s been so highly thought of all season long.
Saka, along with the rest of the exciting England attacking players, can very much lead the Three Lions to some glory if he carries on how he is doing.
As the tournament goes on, you’d only imagine Saka gets even better. And with games against USA and Wales to come, England can be confident of getting big results. For Arsenal fans, well, they’ll be buzzing that their man has started so well.
Should Saka continue like this, then there’s more goals in this tournament for him.
