Gary Cahill has explained what training will be like for Tottenham Hotspur players under their new manager Antonio Conte.
The new Spurs boss took charge of his first game last night and it was a crazy yet successful one. Tottenham won 3-2 and the Italian era in North London is well and truly underway.
Cahill worked under Conte at Chelsea a few years ago. They won the Premier League together and the defender knows exactly what the Italian is like on the touchline, in the dressing room and on the training pitch.
Here’s what he said when asked about his former boss…
Cahill: Conte is very demanding in training
Asked what Conte is like in the dressing room and on the training pitch, Cahill told Sky Sports: “He is exactly the same as you see in the dugout, exactly the same.
“He’s very intense. Expects a lot in training, demands a lot from everybody around the training ground, from the players. He’s very driven. The reflection is what you see on the side of the pitch is the way that he is in training and is the way he is in the dressing room.
“The guy’s successful. You just have to look at his record – when he was in Italy, what he’s done there, when he came to Chelsea, what he did there. It’s a very good appointment by them (Spurs).”

TBR View:
Cahill’s right, Conte is a phenomenal appointment by Tottenham.
Seeing the Italian on the touchline is sometimes as entertaining as the game itself. He’s always shouting, extremely passionate and never holds himself back when he sees something that he doesn’t like. That may just be what Tottenham need.
There has been a lot of talk about underperformers in Spurs training sessions in recent years. Those players will have to wake themselves up, if not, Conte will send them packing, just like he did with a few at Chelsea.
It will be interesting to see how Tottenham will fare over the next few months. If there’s one man in world football who can change their fortunes, it’s probably Conte, who is among the best managers out there.
