Garth Crooks has been singing the praises of a number of Arsenal players in his team of the week, one of them being William Saliba.

Saliba has made a hugely impressive start to life as an Arsenal player. Since returning to the club in the summer, the Frenchman has commanded a regular place in the starting XI and is like another new signing for Mikel Arteta.

This weekend, Saliba did well to keep Harry Kane and co quiet and writing for the BBC in his team of the week column, Crooks praised the young defender for his composure in his first NLD.

“William Saliba is looking better with every game. His composure in his first north London derby was nothing short of outstanding. Meanwhile, Antonio Conte’s Spurs have to learn to keep calm and hold their nerve in big games if they are to be taken seriously or have any chance of winning trophies this season,” Crooks wrote on Saliba.

Saliba won the praise off more than one person this weekend in fairness. His own teammate, Aaron Ramsdale, has lauded him, albeit saying he and others try to keep Saliba on his toes.

TBR’s View: Saliba Brilliant For Arsenal Yet Again

Crooks says William Saliba is getting better with each game and that is bang on. The Frenchman has been excellent thus far this season and his performance against Tottenham was a real top class effort.

Keeping the likes of Kane, Son and Richarlison relatively quiet all game is no mean feat and Saliba deserves bags of credit for doing so.

The good news for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta is that Saliba will probably go on to get even better as the season goes along. And that in itself is a massive bonus for the Gunners.
