Gareth Southgate has now praised Eric Dier after the England international departed Tottenham for Bayern Munich.

The 53-year-old made the comments when speaking to Sky Germany.

So, what did Gareth Southgate say about Eric Dier leaving Tottenham? Let’s take a look…

What Southgate said about Dier leaving Tottenham

Well, the England boss seems delighted with the £100,000-a-week man’s move to Bayern Munich.

The German giants signed Dier in a permanent deal for just £4.3m – as the defender’s contract was set to expire at Tottenham in June.

Speaking about the transfer – which left Ian Wright shocked – Southgate said: “I didn’t speak with Eric (before the transfer) but it’s a great move for him.

“Bayern Munich is an incredible football club. Wonderful history. One of the biggest clubs in world football. So, for Eric it’s a great opportunity. He’s a really good guy. He has been a big part of our journey as a team. We wish him really well with that.”

Dier has already made three appearances for Bayern Munich – where he was reunited with Harry Kane – with Thomas Tuchel’s side winning all three of these games.

Tottenham could replace Dier with Tosin Adarabioyo

Tottenham could actually replace Dier with someone four years younger at 26 – while also making a slight profit – as Spurs eye a move for Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer.

A story from Calciomercato states that Tottenham are looking to sign the Englishman for free this summer when his contract with Fulham expires – the central defender is said to have no intention of signing a new deal.

Adarabioyo is even believed to be keen on joining Spurs – according to Alasdair Gold of Football London.

Therefore, Ange Postecoglou could end up swapping Dier for a younger option while also having £4.3m in the bank on top – it would be superb business by the north Londoners, to say the least.
