Arsenal are continuing talks over a new contract for Gabriel Magalhaes and the defender’s stance over signing a new deal has become clear.

The defender is such a key part of Mikel Arteta’s project at the Emirates and with his deal running until 2027, the Gunners are keen to ensure that is extended.

Since he arrived from Lille back in 2020 for £27 million, Gabriel has become one of Europe’s best defenders under Arteta.

Now the Premier League giants are keen to make sure his long-term future is tied to the Emirates and contract discussions remain ongoing.

Arsenal will have no issues renewing the contract of Gabriel Magalhaes despite nothing being close as of yet, according to Eduardo Burgos.

The 27-year-old remains in talks with the North London club over a new deal, however, there is nothing concrete at this stage.

An agreement between the two parties remains quite far apart although it is understood that should Arsenal accelerate these talks a deal would likely be struck.

The Gunners will be relaxed about the situation for now as the Brazilian will have two years remaining on his deal as of this summer.

Recently, Sol Campbell urged Arsenal to hand Gabriel and William Saliba new contracts with the Frenchman’s current deal also due to expire in 2027.

Arsenal also working on Myles Lewis-Skelly’s contract

Elsewhere, TBR Football understands that Arsenal are close to sealing a new long-term contract for Myles Lewis-Skelly with the left-back very much impressing in the early stages of his career.

The 18-year-old is now firmly a part of Arteta’s first-team squad and the Gunners will be eager to give him a deal which reflects that.

Both sides are keen to make the deal happen with the teenager having only just signed his first pro contract with the club last summer.

Lewis-Skelly was controversially sent off during Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Wolves over the weekend but his future in North London still looks exceptionally bright.
