TBR Football exclusively understands that Myles Lewis-Skelly is close to finalising a new long-term contract at Arsenal after a sparkling breakthrough campaign.

Before the season started, Lewis-Skelly was simply regarded as a huge Hale End Academy talent, the kind of player Arsenal fans were hoping to find his way to the first team.

And after being involved during pre-season, Lewis-Skelly is now a fully fledged member of Mikel Arteta’s senior squad, making 20 appearances so far this season.

Lewis-Skelly was controversially sent off during Arsenal’s win over Wolves last time out, but there could now be better news on the horizon for those in north London.

Graeme Bailey, chief correspondent at TBR Football, understands that Lewis-Skelly is closing in on a new long-term contract extension at the Emirates Stadium.

The youngster signed his first professional contract last year when he turned 18, a midfielder turned full-back who is now firmly in Arteta’s first team thoughts.

As a result of his rise, Lewis-Skelly is eager to put pen-to-paper on a new deal, with terms not proving to be an issue for either party.

Arsenal hope to announce Lewis-Skelly’s new contract in the coming weeks, and the good news doesn’t stop there for the young Englishman in 2025.

TBR has also been told that England first team coach Thomas Tuchel has been hugely impressed with Lewis-Skelly and the youngster is now in line for his first senior call-up.

Previously, Lewis-Skelly has only represented England at under-19s, making five appearances and wearing the captain’s armband in three of those games.

Arsenal also have a new deal ready for Ethan Nwaneri to sign

In addition to Lewis-Skelly, Arsenal also have a new deal waiting for the Hale End youngster’s good friend, Ethan Nwaneri.

17-year-old Nwaneri is also enjoying his breakthrough season at the Emirates, starting alongside Lewis-Skelly in the recent win over Wolves.

Nwaneri is set to sign a new deal with Arsenal following his 18th birthday in March, tying his long-term future to the north Londoners.

Nwaneri was actually the player sacrificed against Wolves following Lewis-Skelly’s controversial red card, which was a real shame given he was being handed a rare chance as Arteta’s number 10.

But either way, both youngsters will get plenty more chances to impress in front of Arsenal fans in the future, two players who are fully committed to Arteta’s project.
