Arsenal new boy Gabriel Jesus has revealed that he was surprised by how good Gabriel Martinelli was when he first saw him in Brazil a few years ago.
The Gunners have a good Brazilian contingent at the moment. Jesus and Marquinhos are the new boys, and the former knows Martinelli and Magalhaes really well thanks to their time together with the national team.
Gabriel Jesus says he was surprised by how good Martinelli was
Jesus took part in a quickfire Q&A session on Arsenal’s official website, and he was asked about the first time he met Martinelli.
The new Arsenal number nine said: “Martinelli was with the national team. He came to complete the training session with us.
“So, I saw him playing young, and I was so surprised because I didn’t know him.
“That season, I was following him, because he’s so good a player, I was surprised, and I’m a big fan of him.”

Martinelli and Jesus, alongside Bukayo Saka, could form one of the most dangerous attacking partnerships in the Premier League in the upcoming campaign.
In Arsenal’s final pre-season game against Sevilla, the three players started together. Jesus scored a hat-trick, Saka managed to bag a brace, and £6 million Martinelli picked up two assists in a truly fantastic display.
The trio will most likely be Arteta’s first-choice attackers this season, and with skipper Martin Odegaard pulling the strings from behind them, Arsenal fans could be in for a treat.
Arsenal take on Crystal Palace on Friday to kick off the new Premier League season, and Arteta is expected to go with Saka, Jesus and Martinelli in attack.
