TalkSPORT pundit Gabriel Agbonlahor thinks Tottenham Hotspur star Cristian Romero ignores Ange Postecoglou in training when he asks him to not make crazy tackles.
The Argentine is Spurs’ best defender, isn’t he? He is one of the first names on the team sheet when he’s fit, but the one big negative about him is that he can be reckless. Agbonlahor thinks he’s the same in Tottenham‘s training.

Gabriel Agbonlahor delivers verdict on Tottenham star Cristian Romero
Cristian Romero is a hero to Tottenham fans, but he can also really irritate them at times, can’t he?
The 25-year-old is one of the leaders at Spurs. When he’s in form, they are a very difficult side to beat, but he can also cost them games because of his indiscipline.
Romero is very aggressive with his challenges. He’s not scared to crash into someone – he probably enjoys doing that a few times a game.
That has led to multiple bookings and even red cards over the years, which is why some people view him as a liability despite how good he is.
Gabriel Agbonlahor has imagined what Romero is like in training. He thinks Ange Postecoglou would be urging him to stay on his feet the day before a game, but the Argentine would ignore him and fly in with ‘crazy’ tackles that could potentially injure his own teammates.
Speaking about Romero, Alan Brazil said on TalkSPORT this morning (January 11, 2024, 6:52 am): “Romero’s a bit of a screwball isn’t he?”
Agbonlahor replied: “He’s that sort of the player, Al. Imagine what he’s like in training, I bet the manager (Postecoglou) in training’s like, ‘passive defending’ the day before a game: ‘Stop, stay on your feet, Romero’, every session.
“I bet you he’s one of them injuring players in training with his crazy tackles.”

Romero is back in training
As reckless as he can be, Cristian Romero is a very important player for Tottenham, and there’s good news for Spurs fans ahead of the game against Manchester United this weekend.
The Argentine, who has missed the last two Premier League games due to injury, seems to have recovered now, and he is back in training.
That’s according to the Evening Standard, who claim today that Romero is in contention to start against the Red Devils at Old Trafford on Sunday.
That is a huge boost for Spurs, who should back themselves to get all three points against Erik ten Hag‘s side without too much trouble now.
