Gabriel Agbonlahor has given his verdict on Manchester United winger Antony after watching him in action against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool at Anfield this past weekend.

The former Aston Villa striker and talkSPORT pundit has said that Antony has been really bad all this season.

So, what has Gabriel Agbonlahor said about Manchester United winger Antony? Let’s take a look.

Gabriel Agbonlahor slams Manchester United winger Antony

Well, Gabriel Agbonlahor has been looking back on Manchester United’s failure to win against Liverpool away from home at Anfield in the Premier League this past weekend.

The former Aston Villa striker was not impressed by the defensive approach that United manager Erik ten Hag took in the game. The match finished goalless.

While noting the attacking talent available to Ten Hag, Agbonlahor gave his verdict on Antony.

The pundit has said that the £82 million (BBC Sport) winger was poor against Liverpool and has highlighted the shocking stat about the 23-year-old Brazil international not scoring or giving an assist this season.

Antony has made nine starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League and has made three starts and one substitute appearance in the UEFA Champions League for the Red Devils this campaign.

Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT (5:08 pm, December 18, 2023): “Have a go, have a go.

“The crazy stat about yesterday was Manchester United’s starting team cost nearly £300 million.

“You have got £300 million worth of players on there, and you are going there and sitting back like that.

“Come on, have a go. You have got Garnacho, who is frightening. Rashford is on the bench.

“You have got Antony, who, honestly mate, he wouldn’t get past me. I cannot run, he wouldn’t get past me.

“Every time he tries to run past someone, he gets outpaced, outmuscled. He is getting away with murder. Zero goals, zero assists this season.”

Antony not at Manchester United level

In my view, Antony is not good enough to play for Manchester United. I think that the Red Devils made a mistake in signing him.

Yes, Antony is still a very young player. He is only 23 now after all. However, he is in his second season at United, and I do not think that he has improved or progressed.

The Brazil international winger made 23 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for United last season. He scored four goals and gave two assists in those games.

While Antony is a skilful player who has pace, he does not always make the right decisions and cannot get past players.

I would not be surprised if United decide to sell Antony, if not in the summer of 2024 then in the summer of 2025.
