Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg has heaped praise on Bukayo Saka’s pace after watching him against Sheffield United on Monday.

The 22-year-old only played the first half against the Blades, but he tormented them. He caused them all sorts of problems and also picked up two assists. Saka’s incredible pace was on full display as Arsenal ran riot at Bramall Lane.

Freddie Ljungerg says Arsenal star Bukayo Saka has ‘enormous pace’

Even though Bukayo Saka only played 45 minutes against Sheffield United, he was a contender to win the Man of the Match award.

The young Englishman was at it from the very first minute. He hit the crossbar early on and then ended up providing two assists, one that led to Jayden Bogle’s own goal and the next was for Declan Rice’s strike.

For the first one, Saka showed incredible pace. He received the ball on the right flank, breezed past Auston Trusty like he wasn’t even there and crossed the ball towards Rice. Bogle got in the way and ended up putting it into his own net.

Analysing the goal, Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg hailed Saka’s pace but was shocked by how bad Sheffield United’s defending was.

He said on Premier League Productions: “If I start with what I would see as a winger I would probably start with seeing this – this space here.

“Anyone that sees Bukayo, everyone says he’s so tactically good, his (ability in) small spaces is good. But, his pace is enormous.

“You cannot do this. This is like the biggest sin you can do against Bukayo.”

Bukayo Saka’s numbers this season are ridiculous

Bukayo Saka wasn’t at his absolute best at the start of the season, and that led to some criticism during Arsenal‘s poor run at the end of last year.

Since the winter break, however, the youngster has been outstanding.

In his last seven Premier League games, Saka has scored seven goals and provided three assists. His overall tally stands at 31 direct goal contributions already this season, which is an incredible return for a wide player of his age.

Saka is getting better and better at Arsenal every week, and we won’t be surprised at all if he finishes the season with 20 goals and 20 assists to his name.
