Former Tottenham ace Erik Lamela has been speaking about his permanent switch to Sevilla and La Liga

What’s the story?

The Argentine moved to Seville in a player-plus-cash deal deal for Bryan Gil.

Upon his arrival in Spain, the 29-year-old spoke of his conversation with Sergio Reguilon. He claimed the left-back spoke ‘wonders’ about the side, whom he already knew was a ‘great club’.

However, in his presentation as a Sevilla player (via Estadio Deportivo), the South American has been speaking even more about the team.

Lamela claims to have been ‘seduced’ by Sevilla’s fight and trophy-winning capabilities.

The ex-Spurs man also claimed he was ‘very excited’ by the opportunity to play in La Liga.

When talking about Los Hispalenses and the league, Lamela said: “What seduced me the most is the club. A team that always fights, that won many titles in these years, the city as well, and the personal challenge of showing and giving what is mine, of giving what I know I can give.”

“It was a place I wanted to reach, Spanish football, it was something that made me very excited. So when the opportunity arose I was very excited and wanted to come, luckily it happened and now the challenge is mine.”

Lamela would suit the more passionate La Liga after Tottenham exit

The one thing you’d associate with the departed winger is passion.

Sometimes it was beautiful to watch.

But, there were others where it simply crossed a line, like last season’s 2-1 defeat away to Arsenal where the ace got sent off.

You feel as though Lamel would suit the more passionate La Liga following his exit from Tottenham.

Whilst the Premier League is a competitive division, it doesn’t match the raw passion from supporters of the Spanish top-flight.

And with the fireworks Lamela can create, the two will be a match in heaven.
