Tottenham are in the market for a new centre-back in January.
The north London club’s lack of depth in that position has been exposed in recent weeks, and Spurs need to bring in some new players to beef up their squad.
Jean-Clair Todibo is one player who has been strongly linked with a move to Spurs, and Tottenham have apparently opened talks to sign the Nice defender.
However, with Nice flying high in Ligue 1 this season, the French club won’t be in any rush to sell the defender in January, and Spurs may need to look elsewhere.
According to Fabrizio Romano, writing for CaughtOffside, Tottenham do have other options in mind if they can’t get Todibo, one of those being Genoa’s Radu Dragusin.

Dragusin an option if Spurs can’t get Todibo
Romano shared what he knows about the £25m defender and Tottenham.
“The conversation is ongoing but they have other options as well,” Romano wrote.
“One of those could be Radu Dragusin of Genoa. At the moment he looks set to sign a new contract there, but that doesn’t mean he’s not leaving. Let’s see what Genoa will decide, but for sure he’s one of the options for Tottenham as well as Todibo.”
Two great options
While Todibo would appear to be Spurs’ top target heading into January, Dragusin really wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize.
The 21-year-old has been shining in Serie A for a little while now, and with the player himself stating that he models his game on Virgil van Dijk, he be a readymade Premier League star.
Of course, there’s a long way to go before Spurs can confidently say they’ll be able to get either of these deals done, but, the fact that the north London club are already putting plans together for their January business is very promising.
Spurs will be signing a new defender in January, but who that player will be remains to be seen.
