Tottenham Hotspur have been heavily linked with Jean-Clair Todibo in recent weeks.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Spurs have begun discussions with Nice over signing the 23-year-old centre-back.
The transfer insider took to X on Wednesday to report that Tottenham have begun talks with the French club over Todibo.

In addition, Spurs have apparently also spoken to the player’s camp in recent days. He’s high on their wishlist, added Romano.
The Italian did also claim that Nice are a difficult club to deal with in terms of transfers, but nevertheless, Tottenham have got the ball rolling.
However, Spurs aren’t alone in their pursuit of Todibo. Manchester United reportedly have him on their wishlist since the summer.
Tottenham Hotspur target ‘complete package’ Jean-Clair Todibo
Tottenham could really do with bringing in defensive reinforcements in January.
Although Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven are a formidable partnership, we’ve seen how pear-shaped things went when both were unavailable.
Spurs’ strength in depth beyond Romero and Van de Ven isn’t all that great, so Ange Postecoglou could do with one or two new starting-ready centre-backs.
Todibo, who reportedly has a £40million price tag, would be a great shout for Tottenham.
Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout deemed him “the complete package” and “one of the most underrated CBs in Europe at the moment”.
Germany football legend Lothar Matthaus has also sung Todibo’s praises in the past.
“Todibo is the best centre-back I’ve seen in a long time,” the 1990 Ballon D’Or winner told Sport in 2020 after watching Todibo in action against Inter Milan in the Champions League.
“He would be a good reinforcement for Schalke and an enrichment for the Bundesliga. At 20 he is incredibly calm, he always finds interesting solutions.”
Let’s see what happens in the coming weeks. This certainly seems like a lead with legs.
