Ferdinand reckons PL 25-year-old would be like a 'bolt out of the blue' for Liverpool

Rio Ferdinand claims that it would be like a “bolt out of the blue” if Liverpool were to try sign Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish, but says he would improve them.

The Athletic, as relayed by The Boot Room, reports that Manchester City are at an “advanced stage” in a deal for Villa’s talisman. Also, the 25-year-old will mainly play in a number eight position, if he moves to the Etihad Stadium.

Grealish, who’s been receiving widespread praise during the last year for his performances, has plenty of rumours circulating about his future.

Premier League champions Man City are the club with the most links to the Villa attacker.

He had injury problems last season, but scored seven goals and made 12 assists in just 27 games across all competitions.

Ferdinand says Merseyside giants Liverpool should be trying to sign him, if they have the transfer funds available.

Euro 2020 Reaction: THANK YOU ENGLAND

“If I’m Liverpool, I’m going to get him. If I’m Man City, I’m taking him. Because he improves them. He improves Chelsea, 100%. Whoever’s got the money to pay for him, do it,”  Ferdinand said.

“If Liverpool bought him it would be like a bolt out the blue. He improves them.”

Jack Grealish would tear it up at Liverpool, so they should fear him at Man City

Grealish may not be anywhere near the peak of his powers yet, which is a frightening thought for defenders.

The left-winger can torment opponents with his trickery, agility and pace. It’s going to be intriguing to see what kind of player he can develop into at a club like Man City.

The main difference for him if he leaves Villa is that he’s going to be surrounded by better plays.

Liverpool will be desperate to be back in the title race next season, but the task may be even tougher if their rivals sign Grealish.
