'Scenes', 'Oh my god': Some Crystal Palace fans react after club agree a deal for 'the brain'

Some Crystal Palace fans were reacting after the club agreed a deal with Lucien Favre, dubbed ‘the brain‘.

According to The Guardian, the south Londoners are set to appoint the Swiss as their new manager this weekend.

The 63-year-old held positive talks with the club over the vacant manager role and was left impressed. He was chosen as the preferred candidate after talks with Nuno Espirito Santo broke down.

The former Switzerland international, who was linked to Celtic, has chosen the Eagles despite interest from Premier League rivals Everton.

Favre has enjoyed a solid spell of late, helping Borussia Dortmund to back-to-back second place finishes before he was sacked last year. He also helped Nice qualify for the Champions League twice in a row.

After Roy Hodgson left, the focus was on what type of manager the side could attract.

In Favre, the Selhurst Park outfit have attracted a manager of the highest quality. Due to his CV, you’d probably argue it’s a far better appointment than Nuno Espirito Santo.

The figure’s experience over the last few seasons holds him in good stead and he looks to take on a side looking to progress.

Palace need to show greater ambition after falling into a bit of a lull under Hodgson in recent years.
