In the summer, Tottenham Hotspur are set to be busy and that is both in terms of new signings, and players being sold. Spurs will need to improve the current squad, if they are in the Champions League.

What will encourage Spurs and ahead of the summer is that their manager’s work in the transfer window has been impressive. Ange Postecoglou has brought in Guglielmo Vicario, Micky van de Ven and more.

Spurs currently sit in fifth place and normally, that would promise Europa League football. But, it could mean the Champions League, depending on England’s European coefficient at the end of the season.

But if players are to come in, then it will see number of others depart. Spurs will have to make room in the squad for new signings, but also to ease any concerns regarding Financial Fairplay. Spurs made a loss.

Bryan Gil has made a decision on his Tottenham future

Any players that remain that Postecoglou sees as dead wood will surely be sold. Last summer, the Aussie gaffer was ruthless in offloading players he didn’t want – ask Davinson Sanchez, Harry Winks and Eric Dier.

Another could be Bryan Gil. The Spaniard made an early impressing on Postecoglou, the boss calling him “fantastic” earlier in the season. It has gone downhill, not involved in six of the last seven league games.

Reports suggest he is ‘not happy’ at Tottenham, and the club are possibly willing to let him go for little over £5m. Now, Give Me Sport deliver an update – and it is that Gil has now actually changed his mind.

It is claimed that the winger wanted to remain at Spurs – despite his lack of game time. But now, he wants to leave the club permanently and is hopeful that gaffer Postecoglou will sell him on a permanent basis.

Gil’s stats – his lack of Tottenham games means he has to go

It is hardly surprising. Just 42 outings have come his way since joining the club in the summer of 2021 in a deal involving Erik Lamela, worth £21.6m. Plenty sit ahead of the winger in the Tottenham pecking order.

Timo Werner is likely to sign permanently, Brennan Johnson has been a revelation since joining. At the moment, it sees Dejan Kulusevski sit on the bench. Son Heung-min and Richarlison can play out wide.

It means Gil has little to no chance of playing. He has to go to save his career, instead of simply rotting on the sidelines at Tottenham. A return to Spain is more than expected for the winger in the coming months.
