‘Fantastic news’: Some Liverpool fans react to rumour about future of their 20-year-old
Liverpool are reportedly set to keep hold of Neco Williams this summer – and some Reds fans on Twitter have responded to claim it’s great news.
According to The Athletic, there has been a suggestion this summer that the 20-year-old defender could leave Anfield to pursue regular first-team minutes elsewhere.
However, the report explains that it’s now “likely” the Wales international is going to stay on Merseyside for the new season.
The Liverpool Echo claimed earlier this summer that Williams could end up being sold for £10million. But, recent reports suggest otherwise.
Williams is an attack-minded right-back that was part of the senior group last season. He made 14 appearances across all competitions.
The Welshman has the unfortunate task of being stuck behind Trent Alexander-Arnold in the battle for the right-back slot. However, he still got some decent minutes last term.
Some Liverpool fans happy to keep Neco Williams
A selection of Liverpool supporters on social media want Williams to keep improving as part of their senior group in the upcoming campaign.
18-year-old Conor Bradley is an upcoming Reds talent for Williams to bare in mid, but right now he’s in Klopp’s squad.
His aim has to be to nail down the role of second-choice right-back. Versatile duo Joe Gomez and James Milner would surely come into the equation if Alexander-Arnold was missing for a big game.
