'Fantastic': Media wowed by reported Everton target last night, he is such a 'great player'

Reported Everton target Mohammed Kudus scored on Merseyside last night, in Ajax’s Champions League clash with Liverpool.

Reports claimed that Everton came incredibly close to signing Kudus before the most recent transfer window closed.

Personal terms were apparently agreed. And the 22-year-old was apparently desperate to try and force through a move to Goodison Park.

He had to stay put though, and played as a false nine as Ajax travelled to Anfield in the second round of Champions League group games this season.

Kudus scores against Liverpool

Mo Salah put the hosts ahead but Kudus made it 1-1 before half-time with a well-placed shot into the top left-hand corner.

He got away from Virgil van Dijk to level the match, but Liverpool won late on thanks to a goal from Joel Matip.

Dutch media outlet VP delivered their verdict on his performance, saying: “What a fantastic goal and what an important moment.

“Ajax had little to say when the Ghanaian’s thunderbolt hit. Kudus seemed to be one of the few Ajax players who was not bothered by the pressure. The man in form.”

Former Netherlands midfielder Wesley Sneijder added: “He shot it in fantastically.

“Until that moment he did not appear in the game, but this is the Kudus in form. A great player to watch.”

Everton have to do without him until January at the very least but he has shown he can do it against top English opposition now.

That may give Everton food for thought but also opens up the chance teams higher up the Premier League have now taken note.
