Fabrizio Romano suggests £35m player could wait for Tottenham to come in for him

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for Conor Gallagher for a long time now as Ange Postecoglou is said to be a huge fan.

The Chelsea midfielder is said to be someone Ange Postecoglou really likes.

Postecoglou is a massive fan of Gallagher, and while Atletico Madrid are close to signing the England international, Spurs aren’t out of this race yet.

Indeed, speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update about Gallagher, and he’s suggested that the midfielder could wait for a Premier League move, naming Tottenham as a team that are still interested.

Conor Gallagher could wait for Tottenham

Romano spoke about the midfielder and his options in this transfer window.

“It is not a complicated deal to reach, around €30-40m add-ons included. The crucial part of this story is what Conor Gallagehr wants to do. Accept Atletico Madrid and go there or wait for an opportunity in the Premier League maybe, we know the appreciation of Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham,” Romano said.

Why Conor Gallagher would prefer Premier League stay

Atletico Madrid are keen on Conor Gallagher, but it’s hard to imagine that he will want to move to Spain.

Indeed, it was only earlier this month that moves to Newcastle and Aston Villa were played down due to the fact those clubs were too far away from London.

Transfer journalist, Dean Jones, recently said that Gallagher would want to stay close to home.

“Newcastle aren’t going to get him, he doesn’t want to go up there. Family ties are very important to him and I can believe that he would be reluctant to relocate to the Midlands too,” Jones said.

With that in mind, a move to Spain doesn’t feel logical, and with Gallagher being a London lad, a move to Spurs could in fact make the world of sense.

Don’t count Tottenham out of this race just yet.
