Liverpool striker Darwin Nunez’s situation has been a hot topic of conversation in recent days after being linked with a shock move to Arsenal.

The Reds are currently focusing on completing a deal to sign Federico Chiesa, who has arrived in England to undergo his medical ahead of his move from Juventus.

The Italian’s arrival has led to a ton of speculation surrounding Nunez’s future, and there have been rumours that Arsenal want to sign him in the final days of the window.

Romano has now had his say on Playback on how Nunez is feeling under Liverpool boss Arne Slot.

Darwin Nunez is ‘really happy’ under Arne Slot at Liverpool

Nunez started just one of Liverpool’s last six Premier League games under Jurgen Klopp.

The Uruguayan’s form at the end of last campaign wasn’t great, and he was dropped to the bench by the former Reds boss as a result.

Nunez is yet to start a game this season as well, and there is a feeling that Chiesa’s arrival could further impact his game time in the coming months.

That led to rumours that Nunez wants to leave Liverpool in the final days of the window, potentially to move to the Emirates.

However, Romano has confirmed that there is nothing between Arsenal and Nunez.

The journalist also revealed that the striker is very happy under Slot and is liking his approach having trained under him for a few weeks now. That’s why he is fully focused on this season and is not thinking about leaving.

Romano said: “I saw some reports people sent me, again I have no idea where this is coming from, about Darwin pushing to leave Liverpool.

“I think it’s important to say for those who follow Liverpool, who like Darwin or maybe don’t like Darwin, it’s important to clarify that Darwin is absolutely not planning to leave Liverpool, at least not this summer. I can guarantee this. Darwin is really, really focused on Liverpool.”

Speaking about what Nunez thinks about Slot, Romano said: “Darwin is really happy with Arne Slot, with what they had the chance to do in the first weeks together. Very happy with the new approach under the new coach. Full focus for Darwin on Liverpool.

“Obviously, this season is going to be important, he wants to feel as an important player, so let’s see how the season will go. But, for this summer, it has never been a possibility for Darwin to leave Liverpool. Never a possibility.

“And never Darwin has asked Liverpool to go. I can guarantee this exactly from those close to Darwin Nunez.”

Liverpool could make a big Darwin Nunez decision in 2025

This is going to be a big season for Nunez.

Liverpool have started the campaign with Diogo Jota up top, but Nunez will get his opportunity at some point to lead the line.

The Reds have enough firepower at the top end of the pitch and they will create plenty of chances. It’s up to Nunez to convert them in a much better fashion than he has done over the last two seasons.

If he doesn’t, there’s every chance Liverpool will make the tough decision of selling him before the start of the 2025/26 season.

It will be interesting to see if Arsenal will show any interest at that point.
