Fabrizio Romano shares update on Tottenham pursuit of Pedro Porro
The transfer insider, writing on Twitter, claimed the Spurs bid “includes one player plus guaranteed money”.
However, Tottenham have seen this “formula” rejected by the Portuguese giants, added Romano.
Negotiations between Spurs and Sporting will now continue, continued the Italian.
It looks as though the two clubs remain at loggerheads over Porro’s value.
The Primeira Liga club doesn’t seem to be budging from their stance to only sell Porro for his release clause.
Meanwhile, Tottenham “are insisting”, and the player himself seems keen on a switch to Spurs.
Right wing-back has been an area Conte has been looking to bolster for a while now.
Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty have done well at times, but there is certainly scope for an upgrade.
Meanwhile, Conte doesn’t seem to view Djed Spence as a regular starter just yet.
The Spurs boss is known for his three-at-the-back system featuring pacy wing-backs.
However, this is something his squad has largely lacked during his time in north London.
Can Porro help kickstart Spurs revival?
With that in mind, Porro seems like a great shout. However, Sporting certainly aren’t making it easy for Spurs.
Romano previously said that Tottenham ‘love’ Porro and feel his style of play is ‘perfect’ for Conte.
However, Tottenham aren’t the only club said to be in pursuit of the Spaniard.
Clearly it shows that Porro is a top talent who could do a job for the best clubs in Europe.
Spurs certainly need to bring in higher-quality players in several positions, particularly at wing-back.
Could Porro help kickstart a Tottenham revival if he joins?
