After months and months of waiting, Liverpool’s transfer window seems to finally be kicking into gear.

The Reds are still yet to make a signing this summer, but there could be a flurry of deals in the coming days at Anfield.

Giorgi Mamardashvili is set to sign, Federico Chiesa is being linked to Liverpool, and now, Fabrizio Romano has shared some insight on another deal that could happen.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano has shared an update on another signing Liverpool could make.

The next signing Liverpool could make

According to Romano, Liverpool could sign a new centre-back before deadline day if Joe Gomez ends up leaving.

“I see the questions on Liverpool centre-back. My information is that Liverpool can go for a new centre-back if Joe Gomez leaves the club in the final days. So if something happens with Gomez in the next three or four days, there is a chance for Liverpool to explore a possible move for a defender.”

Is Joe Gomez leaving Liverpool?

Liverpool could sign a new centre-back if Joe Gomez leaves Liverpool, and that begs the question, is Gomez going?

The defender is apparently assessing his options heading into the final stretch of the summer.

Chelsea are said to be interested in Gomez, while Crystal Palace have held talks about signing the defender.

Gomez’s departure from Anfield is a very realistic possibility this summer, and that means that a new centre-back arrival could be on the cards.

It’s currently unclear who Liverpool will go for, but the Reds have been linked to Goncalo Inacio recently, so perhaps that is a player to keep an eye on.

Liverpool have been remarkably inactive so far this summer, but we could be in for a blockbuster end to the window as Mamardashvili, Chiesa and a new centre-back could all potentially be on their way to Anfield.
