Fabrizio Romano says reported Arsenal and Man United target Vitinha is signing for PSG
Just three days ago, a report from Portugal revealed that Arsenal and Manchester United were battling to sign Porto midfielder Vitinha this summer.
Mikel Arteta and Erik Ten Hag’s sides both need a new player in the middle of the park. They have been linked with moves for plenty of players over the last few months, but Vitinha was a surprise name to come out of the rumour mill.
However, it looks like both Arsenal and Manchester United have missed out on the talented 22-year-old midfielder, who once spent a season on loan at Wolves.
Fabrizio Romano says Vitinha will sign for PSG, just days after Arsenal links
Porto’s financial troubles this summer meant they just had to cash in on a few of their best players. Fabio Vieira looks like he’s on his way to Arsenal, but Vitinha will not be following his compatriot to North London.
Instead, he’s on his way to the French capital to sign for Paris Saint-Germain, claims Fabrizio Romano.
The Ligue 1 champions brought in Luis Campos as their Football Advisor eight days ago and it looks like the ‘remarkable’ Porto midfielder will be his first signing at PSG.
Romano wrote in his tweet: “Paris Saint-Germain are set to sign Vitinha from Porto, here we go! The official proposal worth €40m (£34m) has been accepted after personal terms agreed today. PSG and Porto are now preparing paperworks. He’s gonna be the first signing of Luís Campos, his real priority.”
TBR View:
Vitinha is a fantastic talent and the fact that PSG have beaten everyone else for his signature proves that. Arsenal, who have been on the lookout for a new central midfielder, could’ve done with a player like him, but that’s not going to happen now.
The Gunners, however, are set to complete the signing of Vitinha’s midfield partner Fabio Vieira.
He is a more attack-minded than Vitinha, and his style of play arguably suits Mikel Arteta’s system much more than the former Wolves man, who couldn’t really show what he’s all about during his year here in England.
It will be interesting to see how Vitinha will fare at PSG next season.
