Deadline day twist at Tottenham with club now trying to sign ‘phenomenal’ player for less than £5m

Tottenham could be set for late deadline day action as they face losing a player they paid more than £25m for less than £5m.

It’s been all go at Tottenham this summer as a number of new signings have been brought in to help Ange Postecoglou go for the top four this season.

On the reverse of that, we’ve also seen a number of players leave and that’s ensure Tottenham have balanced the squad and brought some funds into the club.

Of course, in an ideal world, some Tottenham players would still be moved on.

And according to reports from Spain, Tottenham might just get that late in the day thanks to a bid from La Liga.

Real Betis bid less than £5m for Giovani Lo Celso

According to Spanish outlet Marca, Real Betis have now made a move on Tottenham to sign Lo Celso.

The bid is less than £5m as they look to tempt Spurs into a late sale for a player who is clearly not going to feature much.

Lo Celso, despite featuring heavily for Argentina in the last two years, has failed to make an impression on Ange Postecoglou.

The midfielder was signed by Spurs for more than £25m but has struggled to do anything of note in his time in North London.

Tottenham are thought to be happy to let Lo Celso leave on the right deal.

However, a low-ball £5m offer could well fall short of expectations.

The big question will be if Ange wants to move anyone on who isn’t going to play, or whether he keeps Lo Celso around and attempts to get something from him.

Lauded by Jose Mourinho as being a ‘phenomenal’ midfield player, Lo Celso is very much one of those signings that has never quite worked at Spurs.

Indeed, there are plenty like that in the Daniel Levy era and with hours until the deadline, it looks like Lo Celso will be another sold for much less than the initial outlay.
