Fabrizio Romano says Leeds target Nahitan Nandez is now in talks with Inter Milan
It looks like the end of the road for Leeds United and their pursuit of Nahitan Nandez, with Inter Milan now in talks to sign the 25-year-old.
Nandez had emerged as a target for the Yorkshire outfit in recent days.
Indeed, reports just this week suggested that Victor Orta had jetted into Italy to try and get a £26m deal over the line for Nandez.
However, respected journalist and transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Inter Milan are in talks with Nandez and a deal could well be concluded soon.
Inter are trying to conduct their business this summer on the premise of paying fees down the line. The move for Nandez is a loan, with an option to buy or players included from Inter in return.
That is some way off the £26m Leeds were going to pay. However, it must suit Cagliari at this moment in time.
For Leeds and Orta, it could be back to the drawing board. Orta, though, is thought to be close to signing goalkeeper Kristoffer Klaesson. The Leeds supremo has already met the stopper, and a deal is said to be near.
On to the next one
Marcelo Bielsa won’t lose any sleep over missing out on the odd transfer target. He’s experienced enough to know how the game works, and Inter are a huge club, despite their money troubles.
Nandez would have been a nice to have signing. But ultimately, there will be other players out there for the money.
