Josko Gvardiol is a name that has been heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur, but Fabrizio Romano believes this is one deal that may just be a bit too difficult to pull off this summer.

Spurs have not been messing around in this transfer window. They’ve already signed Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma and Richarlison, while it looks like it’s just a matter of time before Clement Lenglet will walk into the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as well.

That really is extraordinary business by Fabio Partici and Daniel Levy, but it doesn’t look like they are done just yet. Spurs are still looking around for a new player, but it’s unlikely that it will be Gvardiol.

Romano says the RB Leipzig defender is hugely appreciated in London at both Chelsea and Tottenham, but it will take ‘crazy’ money to sign him.

Gvardiol, despite only being 20 years old, has made a fantastic name for himself in Germany since his move to RB Leipzig from Dinamo Zagreb last year.

Tottenham and Chelsea both want him, but if Romano is to be believed, it will take an astronomical offer to get him before this transfer window shuts.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “Gvardiol’s always been super appreciated by Tottenham and also by Chelsea because also Chelsea are big fans of Gvardiol.

“But, at the moment, Leipzig have no intention to negotiate for a normal fee. They want a crazy fee to let Gvardiol leave this summer, so it will be difficult.”

It is no surprise at all that Tottenham like Gvardiol.

The Croatian is a fantastic defender, is still very young and can play at both left centre-half and left-back. He’s a dream option for many managers in world football, and it’s no shock at all for us that Conte is keen.

However, Leipzig are in a very strong position. Gvardiol still has four years left on his contract, and if any club wants to sign him, they will have to meet the German outfit’s ‘crazy’ demands.

Tottenham may have to back off for now, but we won’t be surprised if Paratici goes back in for the ‘amazing‘ youngster this time next year.
