Granit Xhaka has once again been linked with a move away from Arsenal this window, with Roma the team once again expressing an interest in signing the Swiss midfielder.
Reports last summer almost had Xhaka in Rome but he ended up signing a new contract with the Gunners. From there, he’s become a regular fixture for Mikel Arteta, despite the obvious lack of discipline at times still holding him back.

But despite interest from Jose Mourinho at Roma, respected journalist and Transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano, has taken to Twitter this afternoon to confirm that Xhaka will not be going anywhere this month.
Of course, any deal to send Xhaka to Roma would come under scrutiny from the Gunners fans. The squad is already looking light, and a deal to bring Arthur Melo in from Juventus seems to be drifting further away by the day. Moving Xhaka on, then, would be a strange move indeed.
For now, though, it seems the Gunners are intent on keeping Xhaka. Mikel Arteta, of course, will be hoping his star midfielder can find the consistency in his game to have an impact. As we know, a Champions League spot is very much still in sight for Arsenal.
TBR’s View: Arsenal Selling Xhaka Never Made Sense
This was one which was never going to go down well with Arsenal fans if it happened so this is good news from Romano.
Xhaka will now need to knuckle down and prove his worth again. He has done it in the past, but Mikel Arteta needs his experience and knowhow on the pitch, not sat at home suspended.
