Fabrizio Romano says ‘fantastic’ Tottenham attacker is now exit-bound

Tottenham Hotspur have been relatively quiet on the transfer front in recent weeks, with just one signing over the line.

Spurs have signed one of England’s best young players in Archie Gray, but the chances are they’re only just getting started.

For instance, Tottenham are said to be closing in on the signing of South Korean talent Yang Min-hyuk from Gangwon FC.

Outgoings are also on the cards at Spurs, with a number of players having already left either on free transfers, or loan, or having been sold.

Now, another Tottenham player looks set to leave in the coming days, with talks now at the “final stages”, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Tottenham in final stages of Bryan Gil talks with Girona

The player in question is Bryan Gil, who has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga high-flyers Girona.

Romano, taking to X, has claimed that negotiations between Tottenham and Girona for Gil are advancing to the final stages.

“Details of the formula being clarified,” explained the transfer insider. “But Spurs know Gil only wants Girona, or he’d stay at the club.”

Spanish outlet Sport previously claimed that the most viable option now is an initial loan deal with an option to buy in 2025, but other formulas could be considered.

Gil has agreed personal terms with Girona and, if things proceed on the right track, it shouldn’t be long before he’s back in La Liga.

Gil set to get career back on track

When Ange Postecoglou joined Tottenham, some felt it would’ve been the making of Gil, who is much more suited to an attacking system.

However, by the end of the 2023/24 campaign, Gil was behind Son Heung-min, Dejan Kulusevski, Richarlison, Brennan Johnson and Timo Werner in the pecking order.

Gil has certainly shown flashes of quality at Tottenham, with Postecoglou deeming him “fantastic” and Graham Roberts once calling him a “little superstar“ on X.

Sadly, it looks as though this is the end of the road for Gil at Tottenham. Things haven’t worked out, and now hopefully he’ll have the opportunity to get his career back on track.
