Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Erik ten Hag truly believes Mason Mount is the future of Manchester United.

Erik ten Hag thinks Mason Mount is the future of Manchester United

Manchester United signed Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer in a deal that could rise to £60 million (Sky Sports).

The Englishman was one of Chelsea‘s best players when he was in form during his time there. He is a fantastic midfielder on his day and he has the potential to become a mainstay in United’s midfield for years to come.

However, Mount has just played 12 times in all competitions this season. He has had two different injury issues since he joined the club and has just not been able to show everyone what he’s all about.

Erik ten Hag, however, hasn’t given up on him. He is still a big fan of Mount, and Fabrizio Romano has revealed today that the Manchester United boss thinks the 24-year-old is the future of the club.

He wrote in his Daily Briefing: “Erik ten Hag believes Mason Mount is the future of Man United. One former Chelsea player who is having a difficult time at Manchester United is Mason Mount, and an injury has complicated his position in recent weeks. But guys, it’s important to say that in public Erik ten Hag confirmed again that he really wanted the player. That he trusted his analysis.

“Of course, there has been a difficult beginning to the season in general for Man United and for Mason Mount, but obviously he can still be an important player for the club and Erik ten Hag believes he is part of the future for Man United.

“He’s happy with the behaviour of the player off the pitch, including trying to recover in the best and quickest way possible. Obviously, the club are expecting different things in the next month, but they want to wait for him and don’t want more pressure from the media regarding his selection or form.”

Mason Mount can still become a star for Manchester United

After joining Manchester United from Chelsea, Mason Mount would’ve been hoping to play regular football and win the fans over.

Sadly, injuries have stopped him from doing that, and that must be really frustrating for him.

However, Mount is still just 24 years old. He is nowhere near his prime yet, and if he can get back to full fitness and play regularly, we’re sure he will return to his best very soon.

2023 has been a disappointing year for Mount, but he could easily become Manchester United’s main man in 2024.
