Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal target Danilo is about to join Nottingham Forest

Nottingham Forest have beaten Arsenal to the signature of one of the most talented Brazilian youngsters in South America – Danilo Oliveira from Palmeiras.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano, who revealed on Twitter last night that a deal has been agreed and signed, and the 21-year-old, who Arsenal were heavily linked with just a few months ago, is now on his way to the City Ground.

Rumours about Danilo first emerged after Arsenal reportedly showed interest in signing the talented midfielder back in the summer transfer window.

Goal Brazil claimed then that the Gunners tabled a £20 million bid to sign the youngster, but a deal did not materialise in the end.

Fast forward a few months, 90min claimed that Mikel Arteta’s side were in advanced negotiations with Palmeiras to sign Danilo in the January transfer window.

Many Gunners fans expected the deal to go through this month, but Arsenal’s focus lies elsewhere at the moment, and Nottingham Forest have taken advantage of the situation and sealed the deal.

Romano declared his famous ‘here we go’ before sharing: “Deal signed few minutes ago with Palmeiras, final fee around €20m (£17.7m).

“Understand Danilo will fly to England on Saturday to undergo medical tests and sign long-term contract. Big one for Forest!”

TBR View:

This is a hugely exciting signing for Nottingham Forest.

Danilo is one of the most exciting young midfielders in South America. He is excellent on the ball, a brilliant passer and is not fazed when pressed, which makes him an excellent fit for the Premier League.

Described as a ‘diamond in the rough’ by Breaking the Lines, Danilo has the potential to become a real star in the coming years, and Arsenal could well end up kicking themselves.

Nottingham Forest fans, however, will not care one bit as they’ve got their man.
