Report: Arsenal now in advanced talks to sign 21-year-old who wants to be just like N'Golo Kante

Arsenal are said to be in advanced talks to sign Palmeiras midfielder, Danilo, and a deal could even be struck before the World Cup finishes.

The Gunners have been tracking 21-year-old Danilo for some time now. The midfielder has been identified by Arsenal scouts in South America and, as always, Edu is said to be working hard on the deal.

And in the latest developments today, 90Min reports that Arsenal are now advanced in their talks with Danilo. Indeed, it’s claimed that a deal could even be announced before January. If a deal is announced, it could give Arsenal breathing room as they also pursue Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian midfielder is also on the Gunners’ radar. 90Min reports in the same article how Arsenal are confident of signing the Leicester star. However, Arsenal could be patient and wait until the summer to get Tielemans for nothing.

Arsenal’s brilliant start to the season has seen calls for Mikel Arteta to be backed in January. And it seems, as things stand, the club are ready to do just that. Midfield has been identified as an area of weakness in terms of squad depth.

Danilo and Tielemans, then, would solve that problem for Mikel Arteta in an instant.

Danilo is said to model his game on French midfielder N’Golo Kante. If he hit even close to Kante’s levels, then Arsenal fans would be in for a treat.

TBR’s View: Danilo to Arsenal is another big move

Given the success Arsenal have had in recent times with their forays into the South American market, you can only assume that Danilo is another sure fire hit.

He’s already made over 100 appearances for Palmeiras at just 21. Players often start young in Brazil but this shows just how well he has done.

For Arsenal, adding to that midfield is key. They have quality in there in terms of the first XI but beyond that, things get tough when it comes to maintaining the levels. Danilo, and of course Tielemans, bring quality and strength in depth.
