Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal have great 'opportunity' to land 'phenomenal' World Cup forward
Arsenal have been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram in recent weeks.
And 90Min recently reported that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Thuram in action in recent weeks.
Arsenal may well be in the market for attacking reinforcements after missing out on Raphinha over the summer.
And it seems they have turned their attention to Thuram, who has been in the form of his life this season.
The 25-year-old has an impressive 13 goals and four assists from just 17 appearances in all competitions this term.
This has helped him win a place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the 2022 World Cup.
Better still for Arsenal, Thuram’s contract expires at the end of the season.
This means he could be available for a bargain price in January and for nothing in the summer.
Fabrizio Romano, speaking to GiveMeSport, believes Thuram is certainly a good opportunity for Arsenal.
However, he also feels there will be plenty of interest in the ‘phenomenal‘ forward.
“Yes, Thuram could be an opportunity because he’s a player who will be available on a free next summer,” said Romano.
“He is not extending his contract and so there are many clubs interested in him from Italy, from England and from France.”
Arsenal have a great front line, but Mikel Arteta could certainly do with more strength in depth.
Thuram, a forward who can play up front and on the wings, is a good shout for the Gunners.
However, would he be willing to play back-up to Gabriel Jesus, or would he want to be a regular starter?
