Fabrizio Romano has shed more light on Richarlison’s move to Tottenham this summer, and cleared up reported interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

Quotes from Richarlison over the international break have proven that Chelsea did indeed want to land the Brazilian in the summer. Of course, it was Spurs who got the deal done in the end, with Richarlison himself admitting a chat with Antonio Conte had swayed his decision.

And writing in his column for CaughtOffside this week, Fabrizio Romano has tried to clear up any talk of a move to Chelsea, or even Arsenal.

“Chelsea made a bid for Richarlison during the night before his medical tests with Tottenham (made in Brazil); Richarlison had already an agreement with Spurs and same on clubs side, but Chelsea wanted to hijack the deal,” Romano said.

“Arsenal asked for information, there was never an official negotiation. It was about the manager, as Conte really wanted him, and also Champions League football of course.”

Richarlison has made a fine start to life in North London. For Arsenal, they won’t be feeling too bitter given they signed Gabriel Jesus instead, who has made a brilliant start himself.

TBR’s View: Richarlison Glad He Picked Spurs

Richarlison just seems to fit in with Tottenham very well and looking back, he’s probably more than happy with his decision.

Chelsea and Arsenal are good clubs in their own right. But the intensity at which Conte gets his Spurs players playing and Richarlison’s own style of play seems to suit everyone here. Certainly, the Brazilian has made a good start to life in the capital.

For Richarlison, the time is now to kick and show he can keep scoring goals and contributing to the Spurs cause. A good start means little if you cannot keep it up, and Conte will be pushing him all season.
