Following an exciting contract update for Tottenham Hotspur yesterday, Fabrizio Romano has now shared that work has not finished.

The journalist was speaking on ‘The Here We Go Podcast’ and explained that Ange Postecoglou’s side are now chasing further progress.

Romano claimed that Tottenham are now ready to discuss a new contract with Pape Matar Sarr, a 21-year-old who is excelling this season.

And after Destiny Udogie penned a new deal yesterday, this certainly bodes well.

Romano said: “Yes, the new signing of Udogie is going to be in excess of €2m net per season, so new salary, longer contract until 2030, so everything is going to with Udogie, it was revealed on Monday and then confirmed by the club.

“Tottenham want to keep going with this contract extensions. Another player they want to offer a deal is for example Pape Matar Sarr, who is always doing very well in the midfield, very talented midfielder who joined almost two years ago and now is ready to discuss a new contract.

“So, there will be some discussions also with other players. For Udogie, it was important for the salary, the length of the contract was really very good for Tottenham, 2027, but they wanted to make sure that the salary was good enough and now also other players will discuss new deals at Tottenham where honestly, all the players, almost all the players are very with Ange.”

Much akin to Spurs’ actions, it does now seem like a very good time to get these contracts sorted.

Tottenham are flying in this new era under Postecoglou, with several players making dramatic improvements.

And not only do these moves make sense from a commercial perspective, they also show the likes of Udogie and £15m Sarr just how important they are to this project.

Moreover, whilst Tottenham are looking to hand out contracts to some of their young stars, they also might want to consider the situation of one elder statesman.

Either way, Romano’s contract update certainly bodes well for Tottenham, a club moving in the right direction.

And with January now just around the corner, it will be fascinating to see what names and profiles Postecoglou targets next for his rebuild.

One £40m signing Spurs are linked to in January would be particularly exciting given the side are desperate for another centre-back.

But perhaps Daniel Levy will ultimately target reinforcements in several areas.
