Fabrizio Romano now shares what he’s heard about Chelsea signing Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale

Chelsea have been linked with a move to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, and Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest on the rumours.

The Englishman is no longer the first-choice at Arsenal. David Raya has replaced him, and it’s unclear now whether he will ever get back into the side. As a result, he has been linked with a move away in January, and Chelsea were rumoured to be interested. Romano, however, has rubbished those links.

Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea will not sign Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale in January

Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale has been linked with a move to join Chelsea.

The Blues brought in Robert Sanchez in the summer, and he hasn’t really had a great start to life at Stamford Bridge. Realistically, Chelsea should be considering an upgrade, and Ramsdale certainly is one.

Journalist Graeme Bailey claimed over a week ago that ‘Chelsea are keeping an active eye‘ on Ramsdale’s situation at Arsenal and could snap him up if he’s made available for sale.

While streaming on Kick last night, Romano was quizzed about the above, and the Italian journalist made it clear that there’s no way this will happen in January.

He said: “We had many rumours about a goalkeeper, with Aaron Ramsdale because Ramsdale is not playing at Arsenal in the first part of the season with David Raya doing great.

“But, from what I’m hearing, Ramsdale is not a target for Chelsea. Chelsea are not interested at all, they are not negotiating and Ramsdale will not join Chelsea, at least in January. In the future, I don’t know.”

Ramsdale could ask to leave Arsenal

No player likes to be second choice at a club, especially a goalkeeper, and Aaron Ramsdale is no different. The Englishman is good enough to be the number one at a top club.

This week, after naming Ramsdale in the England squad, Gareth Southgate suggested that he may not pick him for the Euros if he’s stuck on the bench for another six months (Metro).

That could force Ramsdale to ask for a way out in the January transfer window if things don’t change, and we don’t see how Arsenal can stand in his way.

It will be interesting to see what will happen with Ramsdale. If it was up to us, he would get straight back into the side ahead of Raya.
