Fabrizio Romano makes prediction about Victor Osimhen’s future after Arsenal links

Arsenal are in the market to sign a new striker this summer and one player who is believed to be on their radar is Victor Osimhen.

So far this summer, Mikel Arteta has only seen one player land at Arsenal with Riccardo Calafiori completing his move from Bologna.

The Gunners will be looking to change this with Arsenal preparing their first bid for Mikel Merino over the coming days.

However, there is still room for improvement up top with Arsenal lacking that clinical number nine who can provide a consistent return of 20+ goals.

But that could soon change with the north London side looking keen on adding another striker this summer as they continue to be linked with numerous forwards.

One of those strikers on Arsenal’s radar is believed to be Victor Osimhen who looks set to be on his way out of Napoli.

What Fabrizio Romano has now been told about Victor Osimhen

This summer is potentially going to mark the end for Osimhen as a Napoli player with just two-years remaining on his current deal.

Arsenal have also been linked with a move for Viktor Gyokeres this summer as a potential alternative to the Nigeria international.

One thing which is apparent is that Arteta feels a return of just four league goals from Gabriel Jesus last season is not enough to take Arsenal closer to the title.

However, the Gunners may be forced to spend big over the coming weeks if they are going to get a striker who can take them to the next level.

Speaking on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano has now said there is no chance Osimhen will be leaving Napoli if he has to lower his salary.

“Osimhen is not going to give up on his salary. So forget about Osimhen cutting his salary. It’s something that isn’t going to happen,” said Romano.

“And it’s a big salary, €11m (£9.5m) net per season. So interest still there, but no movements in the recent hours. And I feel that it’s gonna be something for the final weeks.”

Arsenal need a top quality striker to win them the title

The irony in Arsenal looking for a new striker is they ended the season as the Premier League’s top scorers.

But having missed out on the title by just two points, it can’t help but be thought that Arsenal could only be a top striker away from winning the league.

Had Jesus even provided a return of 10 goals, that could well have secured Arsenal the extra victory which they would have needed to get over the line.

If Arsenal were to sign a player like Osimhen, there would certainly be the expectation that the Gunners would have what it takes to finally dethrone Manchester City.
