Fabrizio Romano has just issued fresh Djed Spence update amid Tottenham links
Fabrizio Romano has just issued a fresh update on Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Djed Spence.
Spurs have been heavily linked with the Middlesbrough full-back in recent days.
Earlier this month, there were reports claiming Tottenham had actually struck a deal for Spence.
Those proved to be somewhat premature, however.
As of this weekend, there still hasn’t been a major breakthrough regarding Spurs and Spence.
That said, Tottenham have been busy on other targets this summer, and have got three over the line.
Antonio Conte will have Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster and Yves Bissouma in his ranks next season.
Romano, taking to Twitter, says Tottenham are expected to make ‘new direct contacts’ next week.
He added that a right-back (Spence’s position) and a centre-back are Spurs’ current priorities in the market.
It may seem frustrating that Spurs still haven’t made an official bid for Spence. However, things still seem to be heading in the right direction.
Fabio Paratici is well known for his full-on, all-encompassing forays into the market. And he often has a lot of plates spinning.
To have three new players at the club in mid-June – not to mention the success of Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur in January – is testament to Paratici’s work.
Spence seems very keen to join Tottenham too. Unsurprising, as he’d be at a Champions League club under one of the best coaches in the world.
