Arsenal are now closing in on their first major signing of this summer’s transfer window with Riccardo Calafiroi.
The Gunners broke their drought in the market with the signing of young goalkeeper Charlie Setford over the weekend.
However, the 20-year-old is a player for the future at Arsenal and is highly unlikely to make an impact on the first team any time soon.
One player who will be expected to make an impact from the off is Calafiori who is now looking set to make the move to the Emirates.
It is now believed Calafiori is just one step away from becoming an Arsenal player now with the deal nearing completion.
The deal is so close that Mikel Arteta has already made an key decision on Calafiori ahead of his expected arrival.

Mikel Arteta already has Riccardo Calafiori plan at Arsenal
It has been one of the sagas of the transfer window but it finally looks like Arsenal are set to get their man over the coming days.
More than two weeks have now passed since Calafiori agreed a five-year deal with Arsenal.
But the talks have been going on with the clubs as Bologna and FC Basel discuss the terms of the sell-on clause in Calafiori’s contract.
The time spent waiting for the Italian’s transfer to be finalised has left Arteta with a lot of time to think as the Gunners have since jetted off to Los Angeles for their pre-season tour.
According to Charles Watts, Arteta is now determined for Calafiori to join Arsenal on their pre-season trip to the US.
Even if the Italian is not physically ready to return to action following his involvement in the Euros, Arteta would like him to join the squad.
And that comes down to the Spaniard’s belief that the time spent bonding with his new teammates could prove hugely important for the Gunners going into the new season.
A big campaign lies ahead of Arsenal who have been fighting for the title for the last two years now and a player like Calafiori could certainly provide a big boost to their title hopes.
Mikel Arteta forming solid Arsenal togetherness
Last season, Arsenal missed out on the title by a mere two points. Just one more win and the title would have been theirs.
It is these fine margins which will require the Arsenal side to fight for eachother going into the new campaign to earn every single point they can.
Manchester City have shown over the years what a force they are when it comes to keeping their Premier League crown.
But Arteta is adding quality with the likes of Calafiori this summer and it is clear team spirit is high on the Spaniard’s agenda.
