'What I'm told...': Fabrizio Romano has just given the very latest on Tottenham's pursuit of Bastoni

Tottenham are interest in signing Alessandro Bastoni from Inter Milan and Fabrizio Romano has been giving the very latest update on the situation today.

Bastoni is top of the list when it comes to potential signings for Spurs this summer. He is Antonio Conte’s main man for that left centre-back role, and the Italian coach is said to be desperate to see him sign.

Until now, there seems to be little in the way of movement from Bastoni’s side. However, reports over the weekend had suggested that the defender could well be forced into a move if Inter accept a bid, and according to Romano, Inter are indeed waiting to see what Tottenham offer.

“For sure, he is a player who is on Tottenham’s list and he would be a perfect signing for Tottenham. But as of now, what I’m told, Inter are still waiting to see if there will be an official proposal,” Romano told the Chris Cowlin YouTube channel today.

“So the two clubs, as of today are not in negotiation. Inter are still waiting to see what will happen, what kind of proposal will be for Bastoni. The expectation around Inter and hope is he will not leave. But I think it depends on the proposal. They are waiting to see how much Tottenham want to spend on him.”

The Serie A giants are thought to want at least £50m for Bastoni, if not higher. It remains to be seen if they will actually accept any big offer which comes their way.

TBR’s View: Tottenham Need To Strike Quickly For Bastoni

The longer this goes on – granted, we are only just into June – the harder it might get for Tottenham. And that’s mainly because it gives Inter the chance to sell someone else, meaning they no longer need to let Bastoni go.

For Tottenham, then, you feel they need to get a move on. There seems to be a slight opening for them to make their move lately and Fabio Paratici must capitalise.
