Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United are just three of the clubs that have been linked with Joao Neves this summer.

The Gunners, the Reds and the Red Devils are all likely to be busy on the transfer front in the coming weeks as various dominoes fall in the market.

Arsenal are finally up and running with the signing of Riccardo Calafiori, while Liverpool are yet to get off the mark and Manchester United have made two big signings in Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee.

The Gunners reportedly thought Neves would be “perfect” for the Arsenal team, while Man United are said to have made an approach amid additional interest from Liverpool and Manchester City.

Fabrizio Romano has now provided a major update on Neves’ future, declaring “here we go” on a move away from Benfica.

Joao Neves snubs Premier League interest as Paris Saint-Germain move looms

Sadly for the Premier League contingent in pursuit of Neves, the player has opted to join a team on the continent, with a breakthrough having been made with Paris Saint-Germain.

Romano, taking to X, has reported that PSG will be signing the 19-year-old for €70million (£59million) including add-ons, plus Renato Sanches going on loan to the Portuguese capital.

“Joao set to travel to Paris for medical, had to be this week… and will be this week,” added Romano. “First signing, done.”

Joao Neves disappoints Premier League suitors

Joao Neves has come through the ranks at Benfica to become one of the club’s key players at just 19 years of age.

Neves broke into the Benfica first-team in 2023 and has made 75 appearances for his club. He has also won nine caps for Portugal and featured at Euro 2024.

The teenager has been praised by Man United captain Bruno Fernandes, who deemed Neves “excellent” and ready for Premier League football.

Indeed, some have even suggested that Neves is already “one of the best midfielders in Europe” at such a young age.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Man United could have certainly done with Neves in their ranks.

Sadly for them, he is now set to join PSG, from which he will be difficult and much more expensive to sign further down the line.
