Fabrizio Romano has told CBS Sports that there is no chance Allan Saint-Maximin will be leaving Newcastle in January, despite sitting in 19th.
Newcastle fans will be well aware that Saint-Maximin, 24, is attracting the attention of other clubs. He has easily been his side’s best this season.
The Frenchman has produced five goal involvements in eight Premier League games, scoring twice and creating three more for the Toon.
CalcioMercato said in September that Liverpool, Everton and Chelsea were all looking at Saint-Maximin. But Newcastle want him to stay on Tyneside.
Italian journalist Romano spoke to CBS Sports, and responded when asked about whether Saint-Maximin could go in January. He thinks he will stay.

“The feeling is he is too important for this team. He is their most-important player right now. They need his quality to win games,” Romano said.
“I don’t expect them to sell Saint-Maximin in January. I think he will be part of the project, in the summer they will plan with him.”
Romano on Saint-Maximin: Newcastle must build around star
Saint-Maximin has the potential to be a superstar. In an incredibly defensive side that average possession of less than 40%, he is shining.
The ex-Nice attacker goes past players with ease, has huge amounts of skill – but is also beginning to add goals and assists on a regular basis.
Newcastle are now, under no pressure to sell – in terms of finances. But Saint-Maximin will want to see improvement sooner rather than later.
The no.10 has a contract at Newcastle until the summer of 2026, a brilliant bit of business to keep him that long. The Toon must build around him.
